Energize and Oaks provides support to Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin

Following the success of the Birmingham Sport and Physical Activity partnership, national governing body (NGB) engagement project, Oaks was commissioned by Energize County Sport Partnership to undertake a similar project within Shropshire County and Telford and Wrekin Council.

Using its innovative NGB engagement tool, Oaks have worked with Energize and the two authorities to develop bespoke engagement strategies.  Through a detailed process of evaluation and discussion the project enables the respective organisations to identify which sports are best suited to the their  demographic, sporting heritage and future public aspiration.

To ensure the process is robust the engagement tool also helps each authority to identify which sports can most effectively deliver against their respective strategic themes. Adding to the already success format, Oaks and Energize used this project to introduce a new intervention which not only facilitates a sport by sport appraisal of current performance but also enables the sports to be assessed against future potential.

The Oaks team thoroughly enjoyed working with the both authorities and were delighted with the project outcomes. It was fascinating to work with neighbouring authorities that had such different demographic and geographic profiles and to see how this positively affected the identification of specific sports. I must use this opportunity to thank each scoring team for their efforts and conscientious approach” Adam Walker – Managing Partner Oaks Consultancy.

Over the next year Oaks is looking forward to helping many more authorities plan for their future sports specific work.  For enquires regarding the NGB engagement tool please contact adam@oaksconsultancy.co.uk
