The Much Wenlock Legacy Group has been working with Oaks for over a year now to explore the opportunities that might arise from the town’s role in Olympic history. Oaks have helped to crystallise what the opportunities might be from commercial and other sponsorship and have, through their knowledge and expertise, given the community options for exploiting them. We are a partnership of local organisations which has, I think, presented Oaks with a unique challenge in helping us to move forward and we are about to create a charity - the William Penny Brookes Foundation – which we expect to deliver long term benefits to the community.
