What is your role at Oaks?

My core job role comprises of the delivery of the Business Support department's objectives; continuous research into the funding world and the criteria and requirements for the formation of charitable trusts and foundations, management and maintenance of a funding database, research, and planning and completion of funding applications on behalf of clients. Currently I have a specific emphasis on the development of new funding streams for the Birmingham Basketball franchise and I am project manager for a Birmingham University future building project.

How would you summarise your career and experience to date?

I have widespread experience of working in the sports industry. I have worked in the Community Relations team at FC Gold Pride former women's professional soccer (WPS) team successfully designing developing and supporting live events as well as within the athletics department at San Francisco State University. Also I come from an advanced academic and analytical background earning my undergraduate BA in Liberal Studies from San Fran State and earning a First Class (MBA) in International Sport Management from Coventry University.

What do you think is unique about Oaks?

With cast amounts of sport business experience between the staff and an overwhelming passion and love for sport oaks offers a unique family type atmosphere that many companies are unable to replicate. Oaks believes in building long term relationships and sustainability. The offer of a more personal and individual approach to each client is something that remains constant.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing the world of sport in the next 5 years?

Probably dealing with corruption. In recent years there has been a major influx of scandals involving professional athletes in match fixing, doping/steriod use and bribery.If major sports associations cannot get rid of, or at minimum, control these acts it will continue to lose precious sponsors and loyal fans.  

What is your favourite sporting moment?

In 2004/05 watching Arsenal go unbeaten for an entire year in the Premier League. The team which has been renamed "The Invincibles."

What is your personal greatest sporting achievement?

2007 -2008 earning First-Team All CCAA honours at San Francisco State University for scoring 8 goals in 10 games.

If you get any free time, how do you like to use it?

Playing and watching any sport that I can, enjoying the outdoors, going to the cinema, spending time with friends and family, generally just appreciating life.
