We know that schools and academies have long been encouraged to try and generate income from non-statutory sources in order to build a more diversified resource-base and ultimately mitigate for ongoing cuts across the sector. We also know that for the large majority of schools and academies, this has been attempted without national support and guidance. There are no guidelines or playbooks for school and academy fundraising and income generation, no real benchmarks. For the vast majority, the success of any fundraising and income generation activity has become entirely dependent on the existing resources available to them – regardless of how stretched these resources might already be.
For the first time, the “Income Generation for Schools and Academies: State of the Sector Survey” will attempt to build a nationwide picture of fundraising and income generation performance. We want to hear first-hand from teachers, school business managers, leaders, governors and volunteers about how their school or academy approaches this area of work. We want to understand which activities have been attempted, what’s worked and what hasn’t, and what impact has the pandemic had on any attempted activities.
The short survey will cover several areas including grant funding, corporate partnerships, lettings and procurement. All data captured will be anonymised and shared publicly via a State of the Sector report in late 2021.
Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw on behalf of their school or academy, with the opportunity to win over £5,000 worth of fundraising and income generation support for their school from Oaks Consultancy Ltd and their partners.
