New partner alert: Oaks and Salaam Peace announce new income generation partnership

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with the award-winning community organisation, Salaam Peace.

The partnership will see Oaks empower Salaam Peace to make the most of income generating opportunities available to them by providing additional capacity and skill to their existing team. Focusing on trust and foundation fundraising support, Oaks will bring their wealth of knowledge and experience to navigate the changing funding landscape in light of COVID-19 and how grant-givers are adapting.

Salaam Peace was founded in 2005, following the 7/7 attacks, by Sabir Bham following discussions with the Metropolitan Police Service, the Home Office, social business Catch 22 and community groups to support the implementation of the Government’s Prevent Violent Extremism Agenda in east London. Today the organisation provides sport and recreation for hundreds of young people in socially deprived areas, irrespective of financial wellbeing, race, faith and ability. They have been recognised by a wealth of awarding bodies for their commitment to tackling racism and promoting community cohesion. Most recently in spring 2019 they received the Sport for Social Change Award, sponsored by Oaks, at The British Sports Awards. They remain ambitious to increase their impact and delivery offer, with plans to expand their reach in Waltham Forest and into nearby Hackney and Newham.

Oaks will be providing Salaam Peace a service to secure funding from a range of grant-giving organisations to enable them to launch new initiatives, including an ex-offenders programme and a volunteer training provision.

Founder and Director of Salaam Peace, Sabir Bham says:

Salaam Peace as an organisation looks at the long-term impact and how any relationship with partners, funders and associates will help towards reaching this goal. Oaks have supported us over the past year through other partners but now formalising a relationship that will support our growth, development and sustainability for the 2020's and beyond is very exciting.”

Luke Southall, Managing Director at Oaks added:

Salaam Peace are an award-winning grassroots organisation who are clearly leaders in their field and delivering incredible impact within their community. We’re delighted to be given this opportunity to help them maximise their fundraising potential, and are confident we can build a strong partnership that raises more money for a great cause.”
